terra cafe
Terra Cafe in Edremit unfolds as a contemporary gathering space where rich materiality and sculptural forms establish a distinct architectural identity. Deep terracotta and burgundy tones define the interior palette, while glossy ceramic tiles, brushed metal surfaces, and textured concrete ceilings create a dialogue between tactile surfaces and industrial precision. The carefully curated material composition references the earthy character of the region, grounding the project within its local context while maintaining a refined contemporary expression.
At the heart of the café, the central coffee counter acts as the primary spatial anchor, organizing circulation and connecting the different functional areas of the interior. Its monolithic form, clad in reflective burgundy tiles, establishes a clear visual focus while guiding movement toward the surrounding seating areas and terrace. Linear ceiling details and integrated lighting reinforce the spatial rhythm of the project, while rounded edges and curved transitions soften the relationship between the different zones.
The communal table operates as a secondary focal element within the open-plan layout, establishing a visual and spatial relationship between the central counter, surrounding seating areas, and terrace. Its placement reinforces the continuity of circulation throughout the café while supporting collective use and longer occupation within the space. Perimeter seating creates a gradual transition between communal and more intimate areas, allowing the café to accommodate different patterns of occupation throughout the day. Metallic furnishings and restrained detailing contribute to the project’s contemporary language, while layered lighting emphasizes material texture and spatial hierarchy.

The design language extends into the restroom spaces, where reflective mosaic finishes, sculptural mirrors, and deep red marble surfaces create a more immersive spatial atmosphere. Here, material and light interact more intensely, transforming functional spaces into a continuation of the project’s overall architectural expression.
Beyond the interior, the outdoor terrace extends the spatial organization of the café toward the urban context of Edremit, establishing a direct relationship between indoor and outdoor areas. Conceived as a continuation of the interior circulation axis, the terrace maintains uninterrupted visual and spatial continuity between the counter, communal seating, and exterior gathering areas. This transition strengthens the café’s connection to everyday public life while expanding the experience of the interior beyond its enclosed boundaries.
Terra Cafe is conceived as a cohesive spatial environment shaped through material expression, circulation, and social interaction. Through the interplay of atmosphere, spatial hierarchy, and material richness, the project establishes a contemporary yet grounded architectural identity rooted in both collective experience and local context.
